Dr. Paul Johnston

Dr. Paul Johnston is a licensed clinical psychologist, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, who brings more than 25 years of clinical assessment and treatment experience to the Independent Assessment process. He has worked extensively in psychiatric inpatient and hospital-based outpatient settings, as well as in private outpatient clinics.

His private practice, along with his long-standing association with commercial, industrial and motor vehicle/automotive insurance companies, has given him many years of experience assessing and treating emotional and psychiatric conditions. This has included intervention, assessment and treatment of complex trauma, performance and workplace risk assessment, and clinical psychiatric cases, including anxiety and panic, mood disorders, pain and pain management, and personality disorders.

Dr. Johnston is an Adjunct Professor with Lakehead University, is affiliated with the University of Toronto as a Lecturer, and is currently the Director of Training, Northern Ontario Psychology Internship Consortium (NORPIC). His past experience includes 20 years as a consultant with St. Joseph's Care Group.


Dr. Jay Stewart

Dr. Jay Stewart

Dr. Jay Stewart is a psychiatrist with more than ten years' experience and has worked in the areas of Forensic Psychiatry, Correctional Psychiatry, Sexual Behaviours, as well as Acute-Care Inpatient and hospital-based emergency psychiatry.

He has experience performing independent medical examinations and risk assessments in the context of a wide spectrum of psychiatric conditions including major mood, anxiety and psychotic illnesses, as well as substance use and personality disorders. His court-related experience includes testifying as an expert witness in Ontario Provincial and Superior courts as well as at Coroner's Inquests.

He currently has a private practice in general adult psychiatry and works as a psychiatric consultant to Correctional Service Canada, Canadian Mental Health Association and Lakehead University Student Health and Counselling. As well, since 2002 he has acted as Investigating Coroner for the Province of Ontario. Dr. Stewart is an Assistant Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
